Every casting decision in Hollywood is the subject of great scrutiny from movie aficionados, bloggers and critics. One of the most recent casting decisions that were subject to such scrutiny and debate were the leading roles of the upcoming Batman vs Superman movie. For those of you that don’t know the movie will be the sequel of the 2013 summer blockbuster Man of Steel which basically was a reboot of the famous Superman story.
The roles of Superman and Lois Lane will be played by Henry Cavill and Amy Adams respectively, who will reprise the characters that they played in Man of Steel. And while this decision is met with a high approval by the DC comic book fan base and movie critics, the decision of given the roles of Batman to Ben Affleck, Lex Luthor to Jesse Eisenberg and Wonder Woman to Gal Gadot is met with distrust and discontent by many.
In fact it was the inclusion of Gal Gadot that had the biggest negative echo throughout the movie making and comic book communities. For those of you that don’t know Gal Gadot is currently one of the most famous Israeli actresses in Hollywood. She made a name for herself by modeling and winning the Miss Israel award in 2004. Her first major role was in the fourth movie of the Fast and Furious series where she played the role of Gisele Harabo.
Gadot’s performance in the movie was so highly praised by the public and critics that she reprised her role on two more occasions and will reprise it once again in the upcoming seventh movie of the series. However despite her stellar performance in the Fast and Furious movies, many still believe that she is not ready to take on the role of the iconic Amazon princess, Wonder Woman.
The main concerns of the public are the facts that Gal Gadot is too fine and too inexperienced to play the role of the warrior princess. And while she promised in a recent interview to bulk up for the role, she couldn’t respond in any way on the issue about her lack of experience. Still in the same interview she assured the viewers that she will be ready to play the challenging role of the princess and refute all her critics.
However not everybody is against the inclusion of the Israeli actress in the movie. Many movie critics describe her inclusion as a marvelous decision by Zack Snyder the director of the movie. Some even go further and describe Gadot as a new, charming and fresh face that is perfect for the role of Wonder Woman.
And while nobody can predict whether the actress will be able to handle the role or not, one thing is certain and that is that she will definitely give her best to properly portray the favorite comic heroine of many.
With all this being said people can do nothing but wait and see whether Gal Gadot and the remaining pleiad of movie stars will be able to convert this interesting movie idea and concept into a blockbuster.
